For two days, from November 08-09, 2019, there is nowhere more important for the Chief to be than on a Long Walk with the Utes. This is a walk for our missing relatives. There are currently 20 open cases of missing indigenous people in Utah. To address this, Long Walker Jeff Moreno began working with Mary Toapum, director of AIM Indian Territory, to create the Missing Indigenous People’s Group.
They are organizing and marching to demand legislation from government representatives that will find their family members - to recognize them and place urgency on developing investigation methods and infrastructure, like a database specifically devoted to the missing people within the state of Utah.
It’s working.
Their group is on Facebook, and is already creating a space for nearly 1,300 members to post about their missing relatives.
They’ve been endorsed and supported by Wes Studi and Veteran A.I.M. and Wounded Knee Warrior David Hill. Additionally, Chief Goodwolf Kindness and Nations Rising will be leading the walkers in their spiritual journey for their relatives.
Please join us - reach out for details: SoulLabandPeaceThinkery@gmail.com.
Melinda Wopsock, a member of the Northern Ute Tribe of Utah, is the Rally Coordinator leading fundraising efforts for the walk. The donations will be used for, Hotel Accommodations for out of state walkers, Water, Food, & Misc. Please support Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Gofundme.
